Chiafu is currently a PhD student in Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University, advised by Prof. Ali Mostafavi. He joined the Urban Resilience.AI Lab in Fall 2021 and works as a graduate research assistant. Previously, Chiafu completed his M.S. in Industrial Engineering at National Taiwan University (NTU), and B.S. in Industrial Management at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST). Broadly, Chiafu is interested in mathematically modeling of real-world problems and data analytics. Notably, his research focus on exploring urban mobility network and building resilience for disaster risk management. In his downtime, Chiafu enjoys going to the church’s meeting, jogging and cooking.

He earned his B.S. in civil engineering with honors at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar. His research interests lies at the intersection of urban resilience, complex networks, and data science. In his leisure time, he likes to solve the Rubik's cube (2×2, 3×3, 4×4) and play chess.

He was a structural engineer at Arup before returning the Urban Resilience.AI Lab for his Ph.D. As a Masters and Undergraduate student at Texas A&M, he worked for the Urban Resilience.AI Lab where his research focused on the societal impacts of infrastructure disruption due to disasters. Now he aims to elevate his past research by using data science techniques to converge different datasets to improve the resiliency of the built environment and communities from disaster induced disruptions.
